//Sustainability Matters

At Thelma Steimann, our designs support a sustainable and responsible fashion practice. Our core goal is to eliminate waste and design with care. Involving our customers in the process to create more conscious and responsible business practices.

We create timeless pieces made to be worn again and again. Every item is crafted using high-quality yarns, with a strong focus on detail, craftsmanship, and longevity.

Our business model is transparent, allowing you to learn about the products we carry, where they come from and how they are created. Sustainability has become a widely used term, which is why we invite you into every step of the process. By sharing the stories behind our designs and materials, we aim to give our words meaning and show that we truly stand by what we believe in.

//Responsible Production

All hand-dyed yarns are sourced from responsible suppliers, with an ongoing goal of offering as many organic yarn options as possible. Our hand-dyed yarns are completely free from plastics, and quality and comfort are key factors in the selection of every yarn base.

The yarns are dyed using as little water as possible and washed with organic products to preserve the natural qualities of the wool.

All colour stories are produced based on demand, ensuring no overproduction and no unnecessary waste.

Project bags are made from deadstock and recycled materials, making each one unique. They are hand-dyed in our studio using the same techniques and values applied to our yarns.

Our soap is handmade by a female-owned brand using only natural ingredients, and we are proud to say it is produced locally by a Faroese brand. All other products in the shop are carefully selected because we genuinely use and love them ourselves, whether while dyeing yarn, knitting, or caring for our finished pieces.

Shipping bags are made from recycled paper, and all packing labels are printed on eco-friendly paper. Sustainability is a key element in every packaging choice. We recycle and reuse as much as possible to minimise our footprint at every stage.

//Take the Lead

We encourage you to care for your garments, follow care instructions, and create only pieces you truly want to wear.

Take the lead by designing your own styles, adjust colour stories and sizing to suit your needs. Choose quality over quantity, and enjoy the process of creating garments made to last.

//Open Your Eyes

Craftsmanship and materials are the foundation of quality. We all share responsibility for our environment, and together we can take action.

We invite you to consider these values when purchasing from Thelma Steimann and help keep our story alive.

//The Afterlife

The afterlife of each piece lies in the hands of the wearer. We challenge you to repurpose your garments when they are no longer worn, and to use our scrappy-yarn patterns to make the most of every leftover strand.

Take good care of your knits, and remember: natural wool and silk don’t need frequent washing. Always fold your garments instead of hanging them to help maintain their shape and quality.

-With love
